Evon Carlton 93 was born March 26, 1931, in Wilkes County to Rob and Estella Carlton.
He was educated at Lincoln Heights School. He worked in the furniture industry and later retired from Tysons Foods. Evon was also a professional painter. Evon accepted the Lord at an early age at Thankful Missionary Baptist Church in Boomer. He was a member of Beulah Presbyterian Church.
He was a very nurturing husband and father. Evon was known as a person who stood on his word. He is loved by his family and cherished by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and those who viewed him as a father figure in their lives. He was a man of few words but when he spoke, he gave you a word from God that you can apply to your life.
He ascended to Christ on April 20th at his home in North Wilkesboro surround by his wife and children. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Charlie and Earl Carlton, and two sisters, Dessie Suddreth and Joyce Howell.
Evon leaves to cherish his loving memory to his wife Perry Carlton of 65 years, his children Graylin Carlton (Janet), Robert (Buddy) Carlton, Donna Carlton, Pamela Carlton, Mark Carlton and Jill Carlton, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Sadie Parsons and his brother Rondy Carlton along with a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held April 24th @ 11:00 AM viewing starts at 10:00 AM at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel. Rev. Graylin Carlton, Rev. William Fulp, and Rev. Roy Brown are the Pastors officiating. The burial will be in Scenic Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends and family at home.
